Abstract
This document presents a history of the Mohawk Iroquois from the seventeenth to the late twentieth century (ca. 1970s). It deals with the location of various settlements within the United States and Canada, Mohawk relations with the French, English, and American governments, warfare, the fur trade, missionization, and the establishment of Iroquois reserves. The article concludes with a synonmy of names for the Mohawk, as well as a listing of Iroquois place names.
