This document describes the three major Shi'a mosques in Dearborn, Michigan -- the Islamic Center of America, the Islamic Institute, and the Islamic Council of America -- their development, leadership, and differences between them in their respective interpretation of religious law in the cultural context in which their congregations live. Much of the emphasis in this work is on the Islamic Center of American under the guidance of Imam Mohammed Jawad Chirri.
