By: Pérez, Lisandro.
Abstract
In this article Pérez traces the history of the Cuban migrations to the United States from the nineteenth century to the 1980s. He then continues with a profile of the Cuban immigrants, discussing their location and various demographic features such as male-female sex ratio, fertility, age composition, and their relatively high socioeconomic status in the U.S. The author also presents data on family income and labor characteristics, and compares these data with other Hispanic populations and the United States as a whole.
