Abstract
This document is a generalized description of the economy of the Montagnais-Naskapi with emphasis on the material culture necessary to their way of life. Included are descriptions of diet, hunting and fishing gear, utensils, houses, leather-working and garment-making, and detailed accounts of canoe-building and snowshoe making. Read in conjunction with his 'Naskapi Law' (8: Lips, this Collection), the reader will get a good picture of the Lake St. John and Lake Mistassini bands of the Montagnais.
