By: Lips, Julius.

Abstract
This document is a generalized description of the economy of the Montagnais-Naskapi with emphasis on the material culture necessary to their way of life. Included are descriptions of diet, hunting and fishing gear, utensils, houses, leather-working and garment-making, and detailed accounts of canoe-building and snowshoe making. Read in conjunction with his 'Naskapi Law' (8: Lips, this Collection), the reader will get a good picture of the Lake St. John and Lake Mistassini bands of the Montagnais. At the time of publication, Lips was at the New School for Social Research in New York.
