By: Grant, Peter.

Abstract
This is one of the earliest general accounts on any one group of the Ojibwa. Considering the time that it was written it is extremely good in both content and sympathetic understanding of the customs of the Southern Salteaux. The material is best on material culture, marriage and family life, hunting, games and religious beliefs and customs. The author was one of the early traders and trappers.
