Abstract
The Blackfoot Reserve of Alberta has a trust fund from the sale of reservation lands in 1910. The trust fund provides the Indians with a certain degree of social security, yet they are dissatisfied. This problem is the subject of the study. The subjects treated are the treaty and the early Reserve, the sale of the land, the economy, some social effects of the economy, the political system, the social complex, and a diagnosis, by the authors, of Reserve needs. Though this information is somewhat dated (fieldwork was conducted from 1938-1941), this monograph provides information on many aspects of Northern Blackfoot life.
