AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This is an insightful account of an Assiniboine horse-raiding expedition. It is a less than romantic view of what can go wrong and the dependency of raiders on supernatural. The informant recounts how a party is formed based on the dreams of an esteemed warrior about a successful raid. Once underway however a second dream reveals a possible casualty compelling some warriors to abandon the raid. Those remaining forge ahead and after much hard traveling and praying they reach their destination, but fail to achieve the success originally envisioned.
