AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This is an account of Assiniboine antelope-horn headdress in general and the history of one in particular. The antelope fleet of foot was a challenge to hunt. Assiniboine antelope headdresses were deemed war medicine. Ewers relates the story of one particular headdress worn by the warrior Wetsit whose relative borrowed it for a raid in 1878. Unfortunately the reltative was killed and the headdress taken as war trophy by the Piegan. The headdress was eventually returned in 1939.
