Abstract
This paper describes the settlement of the Little Italy colony in Toronto by Italian immigrants prior to World War II. Topics discussed in this work are: relations of the immigrants to their PAESE (countrymen) both in Canada and in Italy, maintenance of the Italian's concept of ITALIANITA or ethnicity, types of employment available to immigrants, occupational specialization , attitudes toward Fascism both as practiced in Italy and its development among Italian Canadians in Canada, and the relationship of the Canadian government toward the Italian Canadian population at the outbreak of the Second World War (e.g., internment).
