Bering's successors, 1745-1780

Abstract
An annotated English translation of the works of Pallas with an excellent discussion by the editors of the early literature on the Aleutian Islands. Pallas, who wrote in 1780, depended upon the reports of explorers and hunters for his information, and in addition to his own summary, he presents abstracts from these early reports. In processing the lengthy geographical discussions were omitted either because they were speculative or because the information has been covered in other sources. Material included in Coxe (see 3: Coxe) was not excerpted from this source.
