Abstract
This source supplements the author's previous presentation of material from the notebooks of a Wolof chief, Yoro Dyâo (see MS30 Wolof, 28: Rousseau; 30: Rousseau; also 38: Gaden). It contains much genealogical information. The first section is a listing and identification of individuals mentioned in the traditional histories. The next section discusses various subgroupings of the population of the kingdom of Cayor, both ethnic groups and families of lineages. Rousseau concludes with his theories on the origin of the Wolof, discussing especially the rules of descent and how these apply to the succession to the throne.
