AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This document is a historical description and structural analysis of the political developments in Zaria over a 150-year period. It is based on the oral traditions and written source material of the people of Zaria themselves, as well as on descriptions by European travelers and administrators. In the analysis of the final period (from the 1930's to 1950) it is pointed out that despite the introduction of modern democratic political and administrative institutions, it is the traditional alliance system which is followed in actuality.
