Abstract
This is a brief article concerned with the Somali solar year. The author describes the cultural beliefs associated with the Somali annual time cycle as well as a detailed description of two methods used by the Migiurtini Somali to calculate their solar year. Attention is paid to computations of time based on observation of celestial bodies. He analyses the seasonal and astrological terminology of several Somali groups, noting the affinity and variations between them.
