Abstract
This ethnoarchaeological approach to reconstructing the early highland Israelite household and village focuses on "four-room" or "pillared houses" and associated evidence for family organization and cooperative activities. The author discusses the role of kinship within and between family units, as well as gender relations and the religious life of the extended family.
