Abstract
This monograph deals with the history, society, and material culture of the Lur tribal pastoralists who live in two different areas of the province of Luristan in western Iran -- primarily Hulailan and Bala Gariveh. The author focuses on the life-styles and material culture of these nomads as observed by C. G. Eeilberg in 1935 and by Lennart Edelberg in 1964, and the book is based on their ethnographical collections and photographs. These data are supplemented by the results of the Danish archaeologists working in Luristan in 1963-1964 and again, including the author, in 1973 and 1977. Additional information was also added from the works of other scholars who have visited, studied, or written about Luristan.
