Abstract
This article gives a brief history of the movie industry in Iran, with a focus on the particular themes presented by Iranian films since their beginnings. The latter portion of this work briefly analyzes the relationship of these thematic elements to the evolving social and political fabric of Iran. The acculturative effects of foreign movies on the films of Iran are also clearly noted.
