The agrarian problem in Iran

Abstract
Hadary, who was Research Attaché with the American Embassy in Tehran from 1948-1950, defines the agrarian problem in Iran, which consists in low productivity and poor economic and social conditions among the peasants. The article discusses some of the efforts which have been made to remedy the situation by government agencies, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, by the royalty, and most recently in the form of the Seven Year Economic Development Plan. The article also gives information about agricultural methods and their improvement, as well as an explanation of the institution of tenant farming and how it is basic to the agrarian problem.
