Abstract
This is the second volume of the author's study on the Arab child. Volume 1 has been included as 16: Granqvist. Much of the material is based on the author's research and observation in the village of Artas, south of Bethlehem. The source contains much information on names and naming, child bearing and child mortality, care of children and the place of children in Arab society. The author's investigations have also revealed a great deal about the structure of family life and family relationships. Throughout the source, there are references to various superstitions held by Arabs on disease and its treatment and protection against dangers besetting children. The footnotes appear in numerical sequence at the end of the text. A reference list of biblical parallels to Arab belief and practice with page references will be found on pages 301-311.
