Maternal care, infant behavior and development among the !Kung
kalahari hunter-gatherers : studies of the !kung san and their neighbors • Cambridge, Mass. • Published In 1976 • Pages: 218-245, 398-399

Abstract
At the time of this study infancy had become a major focus of interest for psychologists, ethnologists, and students of evolutionary behavior. Draper's work on !Kung childhood focuses untimately on the effects of subsistence ecology on later childhood (see Draper, 1976, eHRAF document no. 49), while Konner's study on infant behavior and psychological development concentrates more on the physical aspects of development -- positions in sitting and standing, physical contact with the mother and other people, and neuromotor maturation and learning.
