Abstract
This work is an investigative report prepared by the author, a government official (Bushman Survey Officer), and submitted by him to the Commissioner for Bechuanaland, detailing the present state of the Bushman population of the Bechuanaland Protectorate. Emphasis in the study in primarily on the Gwi of the Central Desert. Basic coverage in the source in on the demography and location of the Bushmen, ecology and ecological adaptation, economic and subsistence activities, social organization, religion, and health and hygiene. Two additional chapters near the end of the source deal with problems of Bushmen acculturation on the European-owned ranches at Ghanzi and in the Bushmen-Bantu client-patron relationships. The author's recommendations to the government conclude the report.
