Abstract
The purpose of this source is to give a description of the structure and operation of the Turkana age group system. The topics discussed include initiation into adulthood, the system of alternations, age groups, the diffusion of age group names, the principles of seniority within alternations, the ecology of age groups, the activities of age groups, age groups and marriage and military organization, and the integrative functions of age groups.
