Abstract
This article discusses the strategies Kenyan farming households adapt for improving their socioeconomic standing in the face of policy changes and newly emerging markets. The focus is on the ways some households effectively used their membership and participation in local women's association for mutual help and cooperation to advance interests in government designed rural development programs.
