Abstract
This article discusses the introduction of rice cultivation—both as a cash crop and for domestic consumption—to replace the traditional millet. It was administered by SEMRY (Société d'Expérimentation et de Modernisation de la Riziculture de Yagoua) and involved the construction of an extensive irrigation system.
