Abstract
This is a study of a women's voluntary association in the village of 'Kilmory' (a pseudonym) in the southwestern Highlands. Armstrong's thesis is that the Women's Rural Institute (WRI), with its interest in developing tourism as a catalyst, has functioned to organize women to demand political recognition.
