Abstract
This dissertation '…defines, compares, contrasts, then attempts to account for the genetic structures of the small populations of Colonsay and Jura islands…' (p. 2). Sheets presents data on the history of the Inner Hebrides islands and the population, marriage (migration, fertility, and selection), and native genealogical structure. The conclusion is that the genetic structures of these two island populations must be viewed within the context of the processes of migration and stochastic drift (p. 131).
