Abstract
In this paper, Safilios-Rothschild examines Athenian family structure and dynamics by region of origin of the wife's family. Some of the variables studied are class background, family composition, residence patterns, dowry, age difference between spouses, number of children, outings, and visits to wife's parents. The author discusses which areas tend to maintain more traditional family values.
