By: Kennedy, Robinette.
Abstract
This is a study of women's friendships in the village of Hatzi on the island of Crete. Through the study of friendship, Kennedy explores '…the basic, positive bond that is at the core of all freely chosen loving relationships, as well as the role of those relationships in women's everyday lives' (p. 121). The article examines both the meaning of friendship in context and attempts to understand women's experience of this relationship.
