Abstract
This is a study of Kenna's relationship to the people of the island of Nisos during three periods of the author's fieldwork in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The paper describes the islander's changing perception of her from the first period of fieldwork (1960s) as a naive, unmarried and inexperienced anthropologist, to that of a married, professional scholar in the later periods of work in the 1970s and 1980s. The document contains little ethnographic data per se, but does present some interesting insights into the relationship between an ethnic population and the fieldworker/anthropologist studying that population.
