Abstract
This work provides a sample of Santal folk-tales taken from the oral literature of the people and prepared for the author in written form (in Santali), by Sagram Murmu, one of Bodding's principal informants. The English translation, as presented here, is literal in content and is provided with a number of brief explanatory notes dealing with a wide range of ethnographic topics. The Santali text with its English translation are presented on alternate pages of the study.
