Abstract
This is an account of 19th century Santal culture. It was dictated by an old Santal man with outstanding knowledge of native traditions. The account contains good information on social structure and organization, religion, life cycle ceremonies, settlement pattern, entertainment and the relationship to the Hindus. There is also an account on the Santal rebellion against Hindu oppressors.
