Abstract
The authors, Presbyterian missionaries, give a good account of their experiences while attempting to achieve rapport with the villagers of Karimpur in the United Provinces. Though they present the findings of their survey in another volume, this is an intimate personal description of their acceptance into the life of the village. They describe, through individual incidents, the attitudes of the villagers towards outcastes, village leaders, agents of authority, children and education. The last chapter is a compilation in narrative form of the attitudes of the villagers towards change or innovation in the social order.
