Khasi kinship terms in four dialects
Anthropos • 48 • Published In 1953 • Pages: 396-412

Abstract
This article is concerned with Khasi kinship terms -- a comparative analysis of their use in four different dialect areas, and a discussion of their relationship to the Khasi matrilineal social system. Ehrenfels, an anthropologist, has included lists of kinship terms from each of the dialects, arranged so that comparisons can readily be made and variations noted. He relates some variations in kinship terminology to differing social and economic traits. The data was collected during a five week period using a Khasi interpreter and informants.
