Abstract
This document is a general ethnography of the Cowrie Shell Miao village of Yang-chia-sai in Lung-li hsien, Ting-shui-pa valley, south central Kweichow. The author describes ceremonial and ritual practices more fully than social structure ('Institutions'). There are some vivid illustrations of the nature of Chinese-Miao contacts, focussing attention on the degree to which the Cowrie Shell Miao of Yang-chia-sai village have become Sinicized. There is a section on ceremonial bull fighting by Dr. Wu Tzu-lin, which originally appeared in a local newspaper.
