By: Gallin, Bernard.

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This article, based on data from Hsin Hsing in Taichung HSIEN, examines the change in means for resolving conflict. Gallin asserts that because of '…increased involvement with the national economy and urban forms of life', traditional community social organization has been disrupted and mediation as the means of conflict resolution is being replaced by resolution through external official agencies (p. 79).
