Abstract
This study, in Spanish, analyzes masculine hunting behavior among the Shipibo Indians who live along the Pisqui River in Peru. Various types of fauna are described which the author subdivides into the four categories of big game, little game, turtles, birds, and fish. The zones utilized for hunting and fishing are those immediately surrounding the community, as well as the 'jungle centers', the river, the lakes, and the streams. Besides describing the organization and strategies used by the Shipibo to supply themselves with fish and game, Campos does a comparative study of the protein value of the foods consumed between the Shipibo groups living in fluvial zones and those living in the interfluvial zones (p. 53).
