Some social and spatial aspects of innovation at Zuni

Anthropologica, n.s.2 (1) • Published In 1960 • Pages: 18-47

By: McFeat, Tom.

Abstract
In this paper, McFeat attempts to show that culture change in the Zuni area occurred in such a way as to manifest the following trends: rapid growth, progressive enlargement, recurrent fissions and the related developments toward centralization of ceremonial structures and proximation of dwellings. He also discusses a relatively new phenomenon at Zuni, the appearance of the four 'Roads,' or ways of life, in the philosophy of the Zuni within the last 50 years. McFeat was with the National Museum of Canada.
