Abstract
This doctoral dissertation examines the opinions of San Carlos Apaches of a set of recreational activities. Pittman attempts to record both the activity preferences and the attitudes which underlie them. Positive attitudes toward activities are related to the perceived relationship between their performance and a set of values which the author calls 'life goals' are Pittman's rather than the subjects' choosing, they require more critical evaluation than they receive in this study.
