Abstract
The author of this source states that its purpose 'is to describe the dispute settling process among the Navajo…focus[ing] on the traditional processes as they existed prior to Western influence and as they have come to co-exist in recent years with a more formal Western legal system' (p. iii). There is extensive discussion of traditional terminology related to disputes, including categories of wrongs and attribution of liability, and to the 'talking it out' process of managing and resolving conflicts.
