Abstract
In this document MacPherson presents a detailed study of Iran's economy from the 1920s to about 1988. The author notes that while politics and ideology have undergone many changes brought about by each successive regime in Iran, there has been relatively little economic change for the majority of Iran's people. Major economic features of the society are discussed, and changes indicated (if any), during the pre- and postrevolutionary governments following the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
