Abstract
This article presents examples of signs, signals, and gestures, secret or otherwise, used by the Persians in their daily life. The Persian word and its English equivalent are given, followed by a description of the gesture or pantomime used to signify the word. There are also examples of the lexical constructions used in these special languages and several dramatic accounts from Persian literature of the use of special symbols and signs.
