Abstract
This essay investigates the attitude expressed by the Icelandic hunter toward the animals he hunts, here particularly in reference to the fox, and the ways that hunting methods and hunting philosophy influence each other. This study attempts to answer such questions as how do the hunters regard the relations between humans and animals, and how do these hunters think that the world looks from the point of view of the animals. The source of this information was obtained from the writings of professional fox hunters written from the beginning to late twentieth century.
