Abstract
This study examines changes occurring within the Serbian family in the 1930s. The study concentrates on the problems of authority, conflict, rivalries, love, hate, groupings, rank and position in the family as well as on the process of transformation of all family relations. It inquires into historical reasons for differences among the various regions and acculturation processes, and examines the adjustment of the social pattern based on subsistence economy to the penetrating money economy.
