Abstract
This short article, written by a missionary, discusses the function and extent of knowledge of genealogies among the Ifugao. Every man has some facility in reciting their household genealogies; priests, the expert genealogists, are needed to trace complex genealogies for ancestor rites and settlement of property disputes. No precise data are given on the kinship system, rituals, property laws or inheritance; some material is presented on display wealth and concepts of life-after-death.
