Abstract
This essay examines the effects of urbanization on household composition. Parish compares household composition in rural and urban areas in relation to migration, inheritance of the means of livelihood, occupational mobility and status differences, and bureaucratization. He concludes that household composition does change with urbanization in a number of ways.
