Abstract
This source is based on the interviews with 145 women of the Senegalese middle class, living in the center of Dakar (the Medina or African quarter) or its immediate neighborhood, and Wakum, N'Gor and Camberen. Information is given on the typical life cycle of a girl from birth through marriage, and on the daily routine of married women. Mention is made of the economic role of women and the mutual aid associations (TOUTINEs) they have formed.
