Some Zulu concepts of psychogenic disorder

Journal for social research1 • Published In 1950 • Pages: 9-18

Abstract
This source is the work of a professional psychologist who did field research. It describes briefly symptoms and incidence among two Zulu populations of psychogenic disorders commonly included under the general term 'Bantu Disease.' Three summarized case studies illustrate his point that the disorders lend themselves to Western diagnostic categories and therapeutic method, although the Zulu patients manifest culturally specific, highly stereotyped symptoms.
