Abstract
Calonne-Beaufaict is considered the founder of Azande studies. From 1905 to the time of his tragic death in 1915 he made observations in Zandeland supplemented by an intensive study of the people during the last two years of his life. This monograph, (published posthumously) treats mainly of tribal migrations in the Congo, and some of the materials has not been excerpted. A table of contents will be found on pages 279-281 with omissions indicated. It is believed that many of the author's notes on Azande social life were lost.
