Abstract
This article offers a general account of Shilluk culture. The author discusses their history, settlement organization, clans, class divisions, marriage practices and property system. He notes the changes in the political system which may be attributed to foreign influence and control. Lists of kinship terms, a genealogy of Shilluk kins, and a list of the different settlements which includes their populations and information on their organization into larger divisions are given for two different time periods.
