Abstract
The authors of this book intended to fill 'a real need for a definitive, comprehensive study of the Chicana;' i.e., of the Mexican-American woman. This thorough account includes sections on the Chicana in family life, the workplace, schools, literature, and social movements (labor and feminist). The cultural heritage of the contemporary Chicana derived from Mexico and the American Southwest generally is also discussed.
