Abstract
This is the second of two volumes that constitute the basic work on the Ila, written by Smith, a missionary, and Dale, a government administrator. This volume deals with the Ila life cycle, sexual behavior, religion, language, leisure time activities, and folklore. Portions of the text printed in Latin, primarily dealing with sexual activities, are translated in an appendix at the end of this document.
